You moved into a home with a pre-installed home security system
Sometimes when you buy a home, a modern security system is already installed. All the components function well, are hung in the right areas, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might see that you have to call and establish a new service contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to make sure there are no compatibility issues, and they may offer ideas on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can get your monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you make additions.
The old owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer fee to make your life easier. If the owners are downsizing to an apartment complex or retirement community, turning over the home security service may be an addendum of the sale.
You want to move and take your old devices with you
You may want to bring your favorite home security components with you to your new place when you move. That’s pretty simple to accomplish, as most smart devices are portable. You can uninstall each device yourself or call a professional expert to come and take down the system. Then a pro will set up the same features -- and any additions you want to have -- in your new house. Your home security contract will keep the same.
